New Relic

Integrating with New Relic

Integrating With New Relic Using Active Inspector™

New Relic offers a SaaS Software Analytics Platform that offers Application Performance Management and Real User Monitoring for cloud and data center deployed web applications implemented in Ruby, Java, .NET, Python, PHP, and Node.js.

Connect New Relic to SignifAI’s Active Inspector™ to analyze all New Relic metric data points. SignifAI collects crucial data points from each application and host, then applies anomaly detection algorithms and predictive analysis to notify you in advance of potential issues.

Active Inspector™ Installation

  1. Locate your API key on New Relic’s API Keys page. To find your REST API key: From the New Relic menu bar, select: Account → Account settings → Integrations → API keys. Then select "Show key".
  2. A table of the Admin users' API keys appears below the REST API key, with the Admin's full name and the date their key was last used. You can view your own Admin's API key by selecting Show key next to your name in the Admin table. The keys for all other Admins are partially obscured.
Additional functions are available from this page.
  3. Log in to the main SignifAI console and navigate to the Sensors tab.
  4. Select New Relic and choose the Active Inspector tab.
  5. Copy and paste your API Key from New Relic console into the inspector field.
  6. Click "Activate".

The provisioning process will start and may take couple of minutes to complete.

First Time Collection

The first time the New Relic Active Inspector™ runs, it will take a while to complete. During that time, it collects between 14 to 30 days worth of information (depending on your account size). This helps to tune our algorithms with a much lower false positive rate. It also allows us to discover different types of metrics and events over time.

Once the first-time collection run succeeds, SignifAI will collect data from New Relic every 1 to 10 minutes (the interval is automatically adjusted for you). All collected metrics will include the collection metric interval unit once relevant.

Integrating With New Relic Using a Web Collector

Connect SignifAI to New Relic's Webhook Channels to automatically analyze all New Relic metrics and events (like response time, Apdex score, and alerts) in context with the rest of your infrastructure and other monitoring tools.

It's possible to set webhooks for all events in your New Relic account, or specify Alert Policies for each of your applications, APIs, or Hosts.

Web Collector Installation

Option 1: If you're using NewRelic Legacy alerting system

(Not recommended anymore as will reach end-of-life)

  1. Log into SignifAI's console.
  2. Navigate to the Sensors page.
  3. Choose New Relic.
  4. Click on the Collector URL tab.
  5. Copy the Web Collector URL for New Relic.
  6. Log in to your New Relic console.
  7. On the Channels and Groups tab of New Relic’s alerting notification settings page, create a new Channel and paste SignifAI’s collector URL. For ‘Custom Payload’(s), select JSON ‘Payload Type’.

All done! Make sure you are not filtering webhooks based on priorities. Make sure to send all webhook events to SignifAI as our platform parses all types of events, alert state changes, and acknowledgements so you can take full advantage of the Active Inspector™ and Web Collection in a much better way.
